I have several older Flemish strings (still useable) some I marked and some I forgot to, is there any method to tell FF from Dacron strings?

Pull a tag end out. Nail clippers (good ones) will generally clip Dacron clean, but will just gnaw or at best fray any FF type material.

So I just bought some BCY-X. I've only made B-50 strings before. I'm used to trimming the tag ends with a small scissors. If FF is so resistive to cutting how do you take care of the tags? Do you just try to wax them into the string? Thanks!

A razor knife will do it.

X-acto knife if you are very careful--easy to screw up a string with it (been there, done that). I use a pair of Channel Lock end cut wire cutters. Have to get good ones...cheap ones won't cut it (no pun intended).
I haven't tried them, but recently heard about "braid scissors". Can get them from a store that sells fishing supplies, or supplies to make your own artifical baits? I'll probably try those next.

If you have a string that you know what it is , just string them up on a bow and check how much they stretch . There is a big difference between Dacron and FF .
