Question about Wing Nighthawk recurve

Hi All,

New poster here. First off, let me say what a great resource this forum is and thanks for all the info you share.

I just purchased a Head Ski Wing recurve off the big auction site. It looks very good overall, but has two stress lines/cracks near the riser.

I purchased this to use as a shooter rather than a collector bow, but I don't know whether these lines are cause for concern.

I can feel the lines with a fingernail, but they don't seem to go deeper than the finish.

I haven't strung the bow yet. I have the option to return it if needed. Thanks for any information you can provide.

 Those stress lines don't look bad to me as many older bows have some or even more.You might use some super glue to fill and then a touch of poly over the glued area. Other than that I would string and shoot it, keeping watch to see if they develop any more or deeper. Do use a stringer as it takes stress off the limbs and prevents twisting. Maybe saying more than is necessary but just trying to help.

I appreciate those suggestions. I have a couple of older recurves, but none with stress lines like that. And that's a definite yes on using the stringer. Many thanks.

Very minor and common on a lot of older bows.  I'd string it and shoot it.
