Prepare hunting arrows to match the day's condtions?
«

I always make up a dozen or two perfectly matched identical arrows for the whole hunting season. But I'm rethinking that. Conditions and locations can really change during the season.
This year I plan to use Centaur big game heads and 5" feathers for my main set up.
And make up few with narrower grizzlies and 3" feathers for windy days.
And a few with 5" four fletch and Tree Sharks for the wet, close shooting, swampy weed patch at my house where a severe blood trail is most important.
Anyone else switch it up as needed or do you use an all-around arrow?

Tree Sharks are my main broad head, my secondary is a 160gr Snuffer, I cant think of a time when grievous damage and short blood trails aren't at the top of the list.

One matching set of arrows for all conditions and situations. I need consistency to feel confident with my hunting shots.
1916's, Zwickey Eskimo 2 blade, 5" feathers. All day long.

Good post! I do a few things
1) I fletch several arrows with goose feathers for rainy days
2) I also carry a really heavy arrow for a big how should I see one
I have a seven arrow quiver that I love and when I'm out west I carry 3 "grouse" arrows of cheaper makeup.

I only use one setup. Deer is about all I hunt, with a pig hunt every rare once in a while. Rainy days usually keep me at home, so weather is not much of a factor.

Absolutely not. I shoot the same arrows at targets, stumps, small and large game.
Changes change point of impact. I don't want that.
But I certainly change my {side} quiver to protect fletching in wet conditions. I use a fleece cover, and may supplement that with a bread-bag over the fletching under the fleece camo.

For all weather arrows I use a raised rest on my bow and 4" vanes on the arrows
