Correct Footing Size

Hey guys! So I did a search and found the chart on the How To forum for the correct sizes of aluminum arrows for footing carbon. Only problem, I can't find which Gold Tip arrow is mine??    I've got 400 spine Gold Tip Trad Blems from Big Jims, and was wondering what size aluminum I should get to make footings? Thanks for the help!

Same as 55/75 spine. Says 2219. Been so long I forgot what size I used. May have used either the 2219 or 2216. Depending how it fit on shaft.

In my experience, 2219 would be a perfect fit. I use a bronze bore brush to scuff the inside of the footing if it is a little too tight and to allow better adhesion. 2216 would be a little too loose.

I shoot the 400 gold tip blems and I footed some this weekend. 2219s fit perfect

I use 2219s and a quality 2-part epoxy like G-Flex or the Bob Smith Industry Slow Cure. I've yet to have one come loose and have only damaged one shaft built this way. The one broken shaft went through a steel pipe on a pulled shot.

Alright, sounds good. Now I just need to find a shaft. I think Lancaster Srchery sells individuals and then I'll get some epoxy. GDPolk, where do you get those epoxies at?

I buy them from knife making supply companies when I place orders for my knife shop.  That being said, I believe most Hobby Lobby's, Lowes, and Home Depot's will carry the BSI epoxies.

Alternatively I have in the past also used some common two-part JB Weld with excellent results as well.  However, since jumping into knife making I just use the quality knife making epoxies over buying something specific for arrows.  I like the BSI and G-Flex because they give a long shelf life, long working time, are easy to clean up run outs with acetone, dry CLEAR (instead of yellow/brown/grey like a lot of other epoxies), and have relatively high strength as compared to most of the quick setting varieties.

Another option is basic gorilla glue - the brown color.  Its an expanding glue product and has performed flawlessly for me and I foot every arrow I shoot.  I love stumping and small game hunting and have never had a footing glue failure.
