I was scheduled to leave tomorrow night for our annual trip to Cedar Key, FL.  Some rod fishing for specks and reds, but the big fun for me is bow fishing for BIG stingrays...and this year I also had a hog hunt planned in-between days on the water...******* (enter expletive here) Irma blew that out of the water for me (figuratively and literally).  Had to re-schedule for October...another MONTH...ARRGGGHHHHH!!!!!!  Hope everyone down that way is ok and dodges the worst of the weather...I am thankful I just have to postpone a trip vs. worry about whether or not my house will be washed away.

How frustrating! Hopefully your trip will be even better than  had it would have been had you left tomorrow. I pray for all the people in the path of Irma and I wish you well, my friend!

Irma threatening Florida, Harvey devestating Texas as well as WA, OR, CA, MT, BC and many other states with devastating  forest fires it is threatning man, wildlife and the very land that we all hold so dear. Here in OR lights are on in the middle of the day because of smoke and ash that has visibility at best a mile and in some areas it is measured in a few yards.! At this point I do not know how or if wildlife is fairing, with people and structures taking preference we will not know for some time. Nor with archery season in full swing has there been any information on hunters that may be in the path of fires. Not seeming like a very good year. Pray for all those in the path of these storms.

To bad the trip is put off, but better safe than sorry. It's very serious stuff when these storms hit and it's better not to risk life and limb. I hope the best for those folks in the path.......I hope it goes out to sea.....but not likely.

Cedar Key might be pretty nasty by monday and worse after monday..There is another storm right behind Irma. The fishing and weather is better in October anyway. My Hunt Club is 28 miles NE of CK. We have a early rut there, Bucks are starting to run does right now and bow season starts in 11 days.. Our house is on a hill on dry land, but there are large oaks that may become a problem if they fall.

At least you aren't there now and have to come back. It's a big ole heifer and there's gonna be tons of damage unfortunately.  Depending on where it hits, it may very well be next year before you can make it there.

Those Floridians are pretty resilient.  We were there last year just a week or two after a storm hit and flooded everything.  There was still cleaning up to be done, but the town was up and running and we had some of the best fishing ever--bow and rod.  We will see what happens...meanwhile, best of luck to everyone being affected.

Absolutely. Just saw the latest track and it's gonna center Florida headed north. Hope they are all well protected or heading northwest

I feel ya. I hunt in the deep swamps and it's just getting dry enough to get around good with hip boots. If ishe drops the big rain on us I'll be looking for another spot. Our season start next Saturday. Not really worried about the wind up here in north Florida just pissed she is headed this way messing with my season.
