5/16 or 11/32 woodies
« on: September 05, 2017, 11:24:00 PM »
Going to be setting up a 35# r/d longbow for indoor this year and rules require wood shafts. I draw right at 27" so bow will be 32-33 otf and would like the arrow to be 28.5-29" BOP. Would i be better off finding proper spine 5/16" woods and use 125 grain points or use 40-45 spine 11/32" which are easier to find and 145-160 grain points

Personally I'd go with the 5/16 shaft and 100gr tips.
Lighter shaft will give you better trajectory and speed for the indoor shoots.

I agree with 5/16 and 100 gr points.

Here is an option as well if you have a spine tester etc.

Ok 5/16 it is. Who are some good sources for consistent 5/16 shafts? I see 3rivers i can get standard poc but not the weight matched in 5/16

Quick's Archery in England sells 70gr and 80gr 5/16 points for wood arrows. You might try them if you're really interested in increased speed.

Hildebrand would be my choice. Great folks to work with and excellent shafts with tight spine/weight tolerances.
