I always wanted to shoot a snow shoehare,I obvious have to go north from where I live now. Any pointers on where I could go for a good opportunity in the East

You may be able to go south to find them. Many years ago, there were sizable populations in the Spruce Knob and Dolly Sods areas of West Virginia, in the Monongahela National Forest. Probably other areas, too, just not sure. It has been many years since I lived and hunted there, so you may check the state regulations, but I think the daily limit was 2, not sure about a season or possession limit.

We have snowshoe rabbits in Colorado and I believe the rest of the Rockies, there are also whitetail Jack rabbits which is a hare, they turn white in the winter too, not really sure where the actually range of the Snowshoe Hare starts, but let me tell you, you shoot a couple of these big boys and it will just about ruin rabbit hunting for you, hard to get excited about cottontail's after you shoot a few!

I used to have a couple spots in Elk Co to chase them. Not anymore. My buddies and I were trying to locate a spot last year. No luck.

Saw quite a few during archery season in September. I'm going to try to get out before the next rifle season opens this Saturday.

It is a down year for rabbits and hares on the kenai peninsula. Hunted every day for a week and didn't see a single one. Give it a couple years before you make the trek to AK.

Rabbit hunting with bow is a blast-with or without dogs. If by yourself look for the eye of a sitting rabbit in thick stuff, really stands out.

You shouldn't be too far from some hare hunting. As mentioned their numbers are cyclic. When it's good it's really good and when it's bad... stay home.
Really! You're closer to snowshoes than I am. I've done all mine in the Rocky Mountains which won't help you. Their range across the northern tier of states is extensive.
