Millennium 100U tree stand (weight issue)

I ordered a Millennium 100U tree stand based on reviews and its supposed light weight. My buddy has one and it was very comfortable. Anyway it is listed as 11.5lbs so I ordered it. I got it to have a light packable system so every pound counts.
After using it and packing it I thought it was heavier than listed so I weighed it. 14.6 lbs. That is without the tree bracket. I called and they said it is common because of the age of the forms it is casted in. He said they would have to replace the casting every year but they cant. to expensive. I was polite and said thanks for the info. Still not happy. If it is supposed to be 11.5lbs then that's what it should be NOT 14.6.

I am with you bud!  I ordered one because of the proposed weight.  It wasn't quite what I imagined it being!  I was a little frustrated with it, but I didn't use it as a "run and gun" hunting seat.  I use my m7 microlite for that.  Even though it's a little heavier than what's proposed.  I think they're able to hide the weight by not including the tree attachment hardware in the total weight.  


FWIW, I hate the LW seats on their lock ons.  I recently acquired a LW sit and climb, and i'm convinced it may be the best stand ever made...seriously.  It has a sling seat, carries incredible, the quietest stand i've ever climbed in, and with the open front, I don't think there are many shots I wont be able to take at an animal.

Yeah false advertising I weight mine also, 17 pounds with the bracket.

I have the Blind Chair, model #G-100.  And it is a good product, but one of the selling points was, it was supposed to lighter than the other similar chairs I was looking at.

It advertised at 7.5 # it actually weighted closed to 10#.

That extra 2.5 # is a lot of weight to miss the mark on.  I've added a Army pack frame and straps to aid in the distributed weight and it helps in the perceived weight.

But I still wish it was as advertised!

I own both an M7 and the 100U. I have not weighed them but I am sure they are both over the advertised weight. Still I am very happy with both of them. The 100U is one of the most comfortable stands I own. That said, next fall I am going to probably roll old school and go with a Loc-On Summit. I am using one this year after replacing the chain with a speed hitch rope I made myself using 1/2" dyneema and love this little stand and it is very light! I just need to spend a little time putting together a harness for it and a mounting system to strap my Helium sticks to it. Should be a very light and highly mobile setup and honestly those old loc-ons are rock steady and IMHO better then most of the stands available today. The seat is not the most comfortable but it isn't bad either.

I have one of the giant M150's and it seemed pretty heavy to me too--I have never weighed it but it is pretty comfy.

Now I don't want to hijack this thread but I do think we need some info from Steve on "replacing the chain with a speed hitch rope he made his self using 1/2" dyneema"...Maybe you should start another thread and show us that...

Wow.  That seems like BS.  It looks like it is made of welded tubing and expanded metal when I googled a pic  Am I missing something?

Same here... both an M7 and 100U.  Seriously out of spec.  Called company spoke to VP at HQ.  Answer was stands were engineered on paper and tested in US, farmed out to China who started building per specs, then over time gradual material substitutions & changes by China, quality control issues, etc etc yada yada.
Dang but miss the posted weight by like 25% ?? Jeez.
All that said I ditched the M7 receiver, added a LW bracket at top, and just strap directly to tree. Works great, no issues.

I don't buy that at all - I'm very disappointed in hearing this.  It sounds like they are simply manufacturing a product that doesn't meet the spec it's advertised at.  That's a shame.  I don't own one - and I likely won't based on the responses here and seeing as lots of people have weighed them and found them to be significantly heavier than advertised.

yes, they are heavier than advertised, BUT, they're more comfortable than imaginable.  Even their M7 microlite is comfortable.  it's advertised at #8.5, but mine weighed 9.4 and that's without the bracket.  So probably closer to 11.  But, it's also light, comfortable, and an over all good stand, imo.

I don't doubt their comfort level - and I'm not saying they aren't a top quality stand.  But I am saying that they seem to have some business ethic issues and I believe I'd rather spend my money elsewhere.  

In your example, that's a 30% "miss" on advertised weight.  Think about the quality you impart to your strings you build...I bet you wouldn't send a string to a customer that was 30% longer than he/she ordered, and then blame the jig you made it on.  

From the responses here, it doesn't seem to be a "rare" issue either.  I think based on their comfort, people would still buy them without the false lightweight advertising.

I bought he 100U for a run and gun stand and figured a few things out quickly. First it was a very comfortable stand. Secondly, it is not a run and gun stand. Thirdly, it had to go.

I have the XOP Maximus (16#), which is great to hang in any tree, leaning, crooked, thick or thin. So to cut weight, I bought a Lone Wolf Assult, no regrets.

It would make a great stand for prehanging the bracket and carrying the stand in each time, but due to the bracket it is not a run and gun stand by any means.

You can never have too many stands. I will keep and use the stand but also get something lighter. I picked up a set off muddy pro sticks and love them. I will find something lighter in the near future. This is a great stand for longer sits. I can manage 3 hours in any stand.

that is a very good point!  And lets be sure you know, If I mess up, it is the jigs fault!            


I have spoke with them on the phone and through email and they've been great.  I will send them an email about their weight as well.  From what i've gathered from them, I think they would consider putting the right weight on their site.  

They are blatantly lying and I would hope they'd do the right thing!
