camoin my bow
« on: November 06, 2007, 07:53:00 PM »
While my Dad and I were huntin this weekend he said that my bow stood out in the woods. So I was wondering if you guys knew of any ways to temporarily camo my bow, It is a longbow, clear fiberglass on both sides with a light colored core wood. Something easy and cheap would be nice. Thanks

Dr. Ashby had a cool looking camo job he put on his bow with wax.  Do a search and see if you can find it.

lots of things work well. 1. you could paint it using black, brown and green spray paint 2. you could use limb covers 3 you could put snake skins on it or use arrow wraps unlimited faux snake skins.

I use a snakeskin bowsock on my longbow with unstained bamboo limbs. Works fine. Kustom King or 3 Rivers sells them.

Robert,
At most local sporting goods stores they sell a matte finish (so no shine)camo tape. It is used for all kinds of things. I use it on my bows. It is a vinyl tape with an adhesive back, but is not REAL sticky so it comes off without leaving any residue. You can get it in several types of camo (I use the one with the light brownish look) to match your terrain.

I think I picked it up for around $5.oo per roll and did 3 or 4 bows with the stuff. It is thick enough to provide some protection against dents and dings as well. I apply it to the back of the bow (surface towards what your shooting at) then trim it flush along the edge of the limbs.

You can also put some car wax on the bow and let it dry.  After season buff it off and it will shine like new.

I did one with paint.  I used the permanent kind on this bow but the temporary paint works too.   http://residents.bowhunting.net/sticknstring/simplecamo.html
