Caring for vintage bows
« on: November 26, 2017, 01:23:00 AM »
I have several vintage Bear bows including a couple of super-nice Tamerlanes, a Kodiak Hunter, Grizzly and Kodiak Magnum. I had read that one way to care for them was to wipe down with a slightly damp cloth, dry and then apply paste carnauba wax. Is this the best way to treat them and keep them clean or are there better methods such as furniture polish, etc that can be used to keep them clean and protected?

From what I have read you have the wax that is preferable. No chemicals, just pure wax. I thought I had the brand name written down but remember it was available at guitar stores. A room that has a mild temperature year round helps a whole bunch. Out here in Az. we run a humidifier a lot as well. Not just for us but to keep stuff from drying out.
