I found a recipe in the recipe bar b q section here on trad gang. I plan to use sweet potato and onion. It is said that with so much fat, you can cook till the meat is rendered like a rendering plant. The sweet potato and rendered grease and melted meat should make for good fare.
I ate the abdominal wall. It was tough. It is a bit like eating chicken gizzards. Tough but taste and has consistency like gizzard.
The heart, on the other hand, was not bad at all. It was not tough. It somehow had a taste like a bit of liver (light hint of liver flavor . . . I suppose that is the gamey taste a little, maybe).
I shall report of the rendered fatty stew (although the way I processed the meat, there isn't that much fat, actually. If you saw the video, it really looks like lean rabbit.).
Anyways, the rendered stew should go well with rice or bread.
I should take video of it.
All the major hunting season is pretty over. So, at this point, it is game where ever I can get it. There is is still duck season. I do have stamp for it, so I shall try to arrow a duck.
I am in the brotherhood of the trad gear. I got rid of my compound long ago. I feel more connected with this little possum than I do with the bear that I sterilely took with a mechanical machine (compound). I relive the shot on the opossum and to have that arrow loose and fly right on the mark is a feeling of connectedness that is hard to achieve with mechanical devices. This coming season, I will be scouting a lot and use my relentless pursuit hunting spirit to connect with bear, deer, and what have yous.
cheers.
