ILF...school me
« on: January 06, 2018, 07:04:00 PM »
been hardcore with stick bows for 30+ yrs. i have absolutely no first hand experience with ILF rigs other than online research and ytube videos.  specifically, im looking at lancasters site at the  SF plus axiom recurve limbs. it seems that limbs are offered in long, medium and shorts. is it industry standard to rate the draw weight with a 25" riser??  im looking at a 17" riser. the SF limbs on a 25" riser are rated 40#, how would i know what draw they'd be on a 17" riser?? basic questions so bear with me...again, no first hand experience in this area of archery, thanks

The norm is to gain 1# per inch shorter so you gain 8# on the 17" riser all else being equal. Most limbs are rated on a 25" riser but not all.

Important to match limb length to your draw length so you don't over stress the limbs.

Most will tell you what the limbs are rated for on a certain length riser. Kat man has it right. They would be about 48# on a 17" riser. Then you will some tiller and poundage adjustment, most times about + or - 2-3 pounds. Very tunable bows and once your set up.........no tool take down. just slip the limbs in and string her up. Most target limbs are rated on a 25", where hunting limbs will be 17" or 19", like Trad T. or Dryad. I have several sets of Dryad ststic tip recurve limbs.......love'm.

Look at Lancasters blackmax wood/glass limbs. They are all rated for a 17in riser and are very affordable and a quality limb
I'd rather be judged by 12 then carried by 6
