Question On Bow poundage ???
« on: January 13, 2018, 10:47:00 AM »
If you your down 1/2 # on a 38# bow Vs  a 50# bow, Will the 38 #  bow be affected more than the 50 # bow in efficiency..

Or my splitting hairs !!!

That would be a 1.3% drop in weight on a 38# bow, and a 1% drop in weight on a 50# bow.  If by “efficiency” you mean arrow velocity, we also have to take into account that changes in bow weight generally have less effect on arrow velocity as bow weight increases.  Therefore, I would imagine efficiency would be affected more in the 38# bow than the 50# bow.

As to whether you’re splitting hairs, that would depend on whether you could tell any difference when you shoot them.  I don’t think I could tell any difference in a 1/2 pound drop in bow weight, but somebody might be able to.

Probably. But, for theoretical, perhaps decision making purposes it has some value. I agree with McDave re the direction of change. But at 1/2# change,  the difference it makes has little practical significance.

Thanks !

I guess I was splitting hairs.  I just talked to Dan Toelke, he is a wealth of information about his bows.  And he's agreed, said the same thing you guys were saying.   I called him to order a different bow.

That's one thing I appreciate about TG,  knowledge and honesty !

Thanks
