Well I am still out hunting. I am hoping to get a couple more before the season closes on Wednesday 1/31/2018. I had my chance at a young buck on Friday 1/19/2018, but I messed up by shooting at a squirrel. Here is what happened. I am sitting in a ground blind, and of course there are birds and squirrels out feeding, heck there was even some morning doves outside the blind feeding. A few of those squirrels were quite plump, and I actually drew one but I let down. As the evening wore on and those squirrels became more tempting, one came pretty close to the blind and I drew and released and barely missed him. But here is what happen. I thought the arrow had skidded some where through the woods after missing the squirrel, and said to myself that I will look for it after the hunt was over. As I sat there looking, would you believe there is my arrow sticking upright in the ground. Now the only thing that I can figure is that somehow the arrow defected off of something in order for that to happen. Matter of fact that's a first for me. Well lo and behold here comes a buck. And wouldn't you know he walked right up to that arrow and took one sniff and he was out of there. I should be made to write 100 times I WILL NOT SHOOT AT SQUIRRELS WHILE BOWHUNTING DEER(LOL) I have a trail camera there and it caught the action. As you can see in the first pic the buck coming in, and after sniffing that arrow you can see in the second pic him getting out of there. man I was fit to be tied. I was/am hoping to get a couple more deer, because I need 20LBS more of ground venison for some of the stuff that I make. I went out this afternoon to no avail. But I plan to hunt the last 2 days and see what happens. But I haven taken 3 deer for the season already and want a couple more. Hey that's why it is called hunting, you win some and you lose some(LOL)
