Anyone hunt mule deer in the McKelvie National Forest in Nebraska?

Never been that far east for them, the northwest corner has an ok population. I wouldn't consider it "good" though. Lots of opps on deer if your not looking for anything big (150ish is pretty top end on public).

I was considering NE for mulies this fall as well. I was looking at going in mid to latw September though. Is there much hunting pressure on them that time of year?

I once reached out to a district biologist inquiring about pronghorn on some public land. He was super helpful and insightful. It's an easy way to get good intel from someone with first hand knowledge.
If you go to the NE game and parks website you can find a list of district biologists. In a few minutes you can get a wealth of knowledge.
