Arrow weight ?

I don't have a grain scale easily available. Can anyone give me an estimate of arrow weight? 30" 2018 Gamegetter 125gr field point 3- 5" parabolic cut feathers.
 Is that an apropriate weight for a 49# at 28 recurve? They are shooting very well out of the bow. I am very green and just want to be sure they are not too light. Thanks for ya'lls help. Greg

Going off of Easton's weight chart the 30" shaft should weigh about 360gr.  Three feathers with glue useally weigh around 12 gr.  Nock about 10 and another 10 for your insert.  You should be a touch over 500 gr which is a little more than 10gr per pound of bow weight.  That should be a good setup and your bow will shoot quieter.  My calculations could be off a little but I should be pretty close.  Hope this helps.

I just measured a full length 2018 at 32 1/4". The weight was 404 grains...rounding off to 32", dividing it comes to 12.6 grains per inch. At your draw, Big Sneaky is right there at 360 grains raw shaft. Add 11 grs for the insert, 22 grains for the XL Broadhead adapter, 125 gr Broadhead, feathers/nock etc...you have yourself a nice hunting arrow which means quietness and good penetration.

Should be 530-540gr.  I shoot 2018 31" with 100gr point out of my 50# @ 30" recurve.  It bare shaft test perfect, so at 1" shorter and 25gr heavier you should be right there.

I figure 538 for the 2018's w/125 points, assuming swaged nock ends on the GG's.

If you are just target or 3D shooting you might even try some 2016 or even 2114's w/ 100gr points.  I shoot these out of a 50# Martin Mamba w/ TS1+ string  and they are perfect flyers at 29".  The weight would drop to aprox. 445/450gr which would still give you 8.6-9.0 gpp.

I shoot both 2018s and 2016s out of my 50# Thunderhawk.  At 29 inches with three 5 inch feathers and 125 grain head, my 3 river balance scale comes in around 515 for the 2016s and around 540 for the 2018s.  I know the scale isn't perfect but that should give you a good range and it seems to be what the others are getting.  Great shooting and dead quiet from my bow.

I useta shoot 2018's with 125 up front and I think they where around 530 complete @29.5" long

That"s really the part ya need to worry about unless your huntin really big critters deer aren,t that hard to penatrate in the kill zone area.Your set up will be more than enuff even for critters as big as elk...good luck
