Nose slap

I am having a new problem as of late. I am hitting my nose and my lip with the bow string when I release(ouch!!)I have a new tab and I am having trouble finding my anchor point. Smaller tab?

There's pretty much only one way this can happen and that is turning your head in to your anchor.

Look out at your spot. I think you might be looking down the arrow a bit much.

Bring your draw hand and string up to meet the anchor and not your face to the string.  In other words keep you head straight and not bending into the string.

Yep, worst thing you can do at full draw is look over at your wife standing off past your draw-arm, say "watch this", and release.

Now, you might make some money if she has a video camera pointed at you.

yeah, I've caught my lips before. always afraid for an instant that the reason they hurt so much is because they're up on the target.

Molson's got it right.  Point your head toward the target, not your bowstring, and bring the string to your jaw, or wherever you anchor.

I've been dealing with the same thing!! I started shooting 3under this spring, I thing this is part of the culprit. I'm "seeing" the arrow a lot more than I used to, and thus tilting my head to get the arrow lined up under my eye. Gets pretty frustrating when you nose is pouring blood!! I was thinking of looking up a good plastic surgeon, and taking part of it off!!

A tense gripcan doit also. Creates a "hay hook" causing to string to roll around the fingers instead of slipping off. String jumps toward the face. Result is a skinned nose. Combine that with the head cocked too much like mentioned before and yah just might not have to shave one side of your lip anymore.
  The hayhook release causes more irratic arrow flight than just having the string hit the face a bit. A new tab can do it(hay hooking) until it is "broke in" and you have the right feel. Esp if it is a thick tab.

Hitting your nose is from turning your face into the string or struggling to achieve a longer draw, slapping your lip or cheek is from short draw or short anchor.  Keep your face and head straight, looking at the target, draw into your face or anchor and settle in before releasing, only a split second of hold or hesitation will make a tremendous difference.

I'm a newbie with tradional equipment and was having the same problem.  The shape of my face seems to be the main culprit.  I wasn't drawing back too far as I was not drawing hard into the corner of my mouth.

My solution was to cant my bow a little more.  It seems to be working, but as I develop and learn a little more about traditional shooting, I will probably have to adjust this.

I hit the very tip of my nose just about every shot; my solution is to put a bandaid on the tip of my nose!  Seriously, I was worried about this upon a time, but I talked to some bowyers, including Norm Johnson, who said they hit their noses, too.  I shoot the bow well, so I don't worry about it.  I once tried a tab, and it just about killed me, though!  Not sure why that is, but the tab made things unbearable.
