Shooting Form
« on: June 18, 2007, 10:00:00 PM »
I know there are a few of these toward the top already but I have never video taped myself so I thought I would get the wife and give it a try.  Let me know what you guys think and be honest I know there are somethings I need to work on.  By the way the bow and arrows I am shooting are the ones from the St Judes Auction donated by Ron LaClair and Gregg Coffey (Java Man).

Here are some more pics.  The arrows Ron had made up to go with this bow fly like darts but I was seeing what other arrows that I had flew good out of this bow.  These pics are of some 2115 aluminum and 55/75 gold tips.  I think they will do for stumping and 3D shooting.

Now this is only at 13 yards because that is all the farther I have to shoot in my basement.

I don't know, maybe it's just the angle of the camera, but are you coming to full draw?

Tim.....you are short drawing the bow, and cheating yourself out of at least 2 inches of draw, you are not getting enough back tension, and your are muscling the bow.

Do an over head clip and you will see where your elbow is.

Thanks guys I had a feeling that would be the number 1 thing.  I have shot like this for so long and tried to correct it but cant seem to get it going.  What do you suggest for correcting this issue?

You can fix it Tim, you're just going to have to dedicate yourself to it.  The hardest part is to avoid "getting bored" while you're working on it.  Don't let yourself shoot using your old habits while you're trying to correct them or it will never happen.

The irony is, the biggest problem with improving is the actual desire to see improvement.

Terry, Thanks again for the talk.  I will video again in a couple weeks and see if I see any improvement.  I spent 30 minuets today doing what you told me.

Tim the thing I noticed is the bow is not a good fit for you, you should just send it to me so you are not tempted to keep shooting it and ruin your form   :bigsmyl:
