I just recieved a new to me recurve that has me puzzled alittle bit.
It's a 62" Damon Howatt Hunter 50# @ 28", I REALLY LIKE THIS BOW, it's pretty and it's quiet. I'll see if I can get pics up sometime of this bow.
My question is this:
With the current set up it has a hair style rest and striker plate on. When I shoot it as I normally do shoot, it throws every arrow I own to the right IF I look down the shaft of the arrow for alignment. I stuck a tooth-pick under the striker to make it alittle thicker, then one under the rest at the deepest point of the throat as well. Still throws them to the right. I thought maybe it's just that my arrows are too weak spined. NOT so, I put a CX heritage 350 on it and it still throws them to the right if I look down the shaft. That arrow should be WAY over spined for that weight. Here's what puzzles me, if I ignor the arrow and just focus on the spot I want to hit, it seems to fly pretty much true.
If I just come to full draw, anchor, focus, and then look where the shaft is, it's pointing to the LEFT. I'm confused. It hits RIGHT of where the shaft is pointing, I don't get it. I might could understand it if the Bow wasn't cut to center as much as this one is.
The other bows that I shoot, I check my alignment by the shaft of the arrow. The arrows seem to fly straight off them. Should I just focus on the spot I want to hit and not care if the arrow is pointing off to the left? Or should I figure out what I need to do to get the arrow straight and not hitting to the right?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Have a great day, HH
