Hey I was just wondering what kind of string to use with my bow.  It is a 55# long bow at a 31" draw.  The bow is 68 inches long

You need to know from the Bowyer if it can handle the modern materials. You would be safe to use B-50 if you aren't sure.

The modern materials help handshock with some bows.If you try a modern material without hearing from the bowyer pad the loops with a lot of B-50.As much as 10-16 strands.

yea I had B-50 on there but after about 60 arrows the string ripped apart so I was wondering if maybe it was the wrong kind

How many stand was the string? I use 14 strands of B-50 and they last longer than that. You might have rough string grooves.

It wasn't the string's fault.14-16 strands of B-50 should last thousands of shots.Where did it break?

I use a flemish string, I have a 57# massie and a 50# cutom made bow. they work great on both bows. My Massie can use a fast flight string but I stay away from them.

When you say 'top nock', do you mean the top tip of the bow?

You can figure out how many strands you have by untwisting the string.  You'll see 'major' strands and 'minor' ones. Multiples of the minor ones make the majors.  You should be able to see what we mean.

55@31 translates into something like 46@28.

Was your string 'flemish' or 'continuous'?

The problem isn't with the material, it's either how the string was made (perhaps not twisted enough if a flemish string) or a rough nock that cut it.
