Bow building help
« on: October 11, 2007, 10:23:00 PM »
Hi Gang

I need some help, im about to jump from makeing one piece long bows from Osage to a laminated long bow with deflex/reflex and need to ask some questions, the riser handle i ordered was in two pieces and i need to glue it back together, what should i use, it is Cocobolo and the two pieces are 11/2 by 14, do i use bow grip or TB2 or TB3, i also want to attach this riser handle to the back of the bow after glueing it up, not the normal way of useing fades and running the lams up and on to the riser, just something i wanted to try, will i have a problem with the handle shearing off the bow doing it this way, i have seen other bow makers do it this way and thought i would give it a try, it allows more of the wood in the handle to be seen and not covered up with lams and fiberglass, one other thing, where do i center the arrow rest up at, center of bow, or do i center my index finger at the center of the bow, the bows i have built were flat bows or a very small handle and i could always shift my hand to make them shoot better, i dont want to make any mistakes on this one, to much time and effort in it already, thanks for helping a buding bow maker out in time of need, WF.
Takes less time to do it right than do it over.
