in a shooting slump
« on: February 15, 2008, 02:38:00 PM »
ive been shooting my new shrew for the last two weeks, been going good, but the last couple days ive been shooting like crap.  I had been shooting a bob lee with a quiver so the mass weight difference is big.  Ive been thinking that the shrew without a quiver may be too light and squirly.  Im going to try to put a quiver on it see if that helps.  any one have some advice i want to just start all over.  last night i was missing by up to 3 feet when usualy i dont like to miss by 5 inches.  my release and anchor has become inconsistant, and lots of target panic.

Try to have some fun, i.e. go stumpin' with some friends or better yet some kid(s).

Loose the target step up close and refind your shot

When that happens to me it's genrally I'm letting my shoulders creep up and the string slip more towards the tips instead of really grabbing onto the string and maintaining back tension THRU the shot which is way easier with a low shoulder positionI find that I can hold my bow arm more still and in line with a low shoulder position too. It's amazing how easy it is to let them creep up on ya

Good luck
Shoot straight and have FUN!!

All of the above. I hear ya about -20 I think we all go through a slump some time or another. When this happens to me I start shooting at about 5 to 10 yards again, untill I get back in the swing of good shooting. Shoot bad get close even if it is stump shooting. I have found out for me, if I start shooting bad and stay back 20 to 30 yds. I don't get out of the slump as quick. Getting close works for me.
