« on: February 15, 2008, 11:36:00 PM »
Hey guys. Im still knew enough i havetn got it all figured out yet.I am getting my dad back interested in it and shooting again though which is awesome....only problem last time we shot we went to a techno hunt range. his groups would have been tiny if we were shooting paper unfortunatley they were all about way high and to the left...everyonce in awhile he hit dead on but times he would even look way low and to the right and hit the vitals? What the heck is going on? any ideas i cant figure it out for the life of me tried different cants etc but didnt seem to work.

have you tried checking how close the arrow is under the dominaht eye? because with me, If I get a little "change" in my target that I'm shooting at, I tend to not anchor as fully, and I get the same problem

Two things that causes me to hit left and left high.  One is the use of the arrow shaft to align.  The other is a collapsed bow arm at release.  If you sight down the shaft and don't have your eye right over the shaft, you will shoot left if you are right handed.  If you have a collapse of the bow arm when you release, you will shoot high left.  I do this from time to time if I shoot too many arrows in a session.  He must focus on the target and push towards the target while maintaining back tension at release.  Sometimes I focus on pulling with my back and end up collapsing my bowarm in doing so.  Sometimes I am so intent on making sure the arrow lines up, I lose focus of my target and end up hitting left.  I thought it to be the arrow/facial/eye alignment but it seems to be just not focusing on the target that causes left hits.  Just my personal trials and observations.
