First board bow
« on: March 28, 2008, 08:01:00 PM »
Ok I have been working on knives for the last couple of months and have been researching building my first wood bow.  I am eagerly awaiting the arival of the 4 book bowyer bible set.

I'm not sure what to takle first a board bow or self bow.  I think if I did the self bow I would order a roughed out blank?

I saw an idea for kids bows on this forum where an oak board was cut into smaller boards and laminated together.  Could this be done on a full scale #50-#60 hunting bow?  It makes sence to me that the choice of a particular piece of lumber wouldnt be so critical if this approach was used?

Any ideas?

In the mean time I will go and attend to my fletching jig......making arrows for may mechanical contraption.

Thanx Scott

Sounds workable to me, but what do I know. I have yet to finish a stave.
You may want to repost this in POWOW so it gets more attention, then those who know will help you out.
