XX75 Help?

Hi Guys,
I am considering getting some old/new Autum Orange XX75 shafts to fletch and shoot. The bow I have in mind for this is a 60", 53# Bear Kodiak.
I shoot 3 under and have a 28" draw and I like to have about 3/4" to the back of the broad-head. I anticipate shooting 150gr BH and would possibly use a 190gr if needed to soften the spine up a bit.

Does anyone have any hands on experience on this set up or similar setups? I cant seem to make a determination of which to select using the Easton arrow charts. Too many choices. Lite, Superlite, Heavy wall etc.

Any help you can offer will be appreciated!

2018 in any xx75 shaft should work....and any Autum Orange are old stock......

A 2016 with a 125 grain head would be my choice.  This will give you good weight, and speed, and should tune to pefection.  The Gamegetter 500 hawgslayer mentioned is the same arrow.

I have been shooting the same 2117's with 140 grain points/BH from a 45#/56" and a 58#/60".  I have a 28" draw and have the arrows cut to 29".  The arrows fly true from both bows.  On paper I should be a little over spined on the 45# and under spined on the 58#.

Charts will drive you crazy because there is so much overlap between shaft sizes.  I thought about trying to buy what "matched" my bows, but I am happy with what I have.  One set for two bows.

saywhat?  I suggest you bareshaft tune, or paper your arrows.  I find it very hard to believe you get good arrow flight from a 45# and 58# bow with the same 2117 arrows.  What are the two bows you are shooting?

I shoot a  45#56" Darton Valiant and a 58#/60" Darton Classic SL.  Both are older bows using Dacron strings.  I fletched all arrows with 4" shield cut RW feathers with a moderate helical.  These are the same 10 year old shafts I used on my old compound with plastic vanes.  I simply replaced all nocks and feathers.  I made half a dozen cedar shafts up spined 45#-50# and got terrible groupings between the two bows, with kickers to the right or left respectively.  Not so with the 2117's.  Charts recommend 2016's for my lighter bow.

I have learned to "hold" a little lower from 5 to 20 yards with the 58# bow, but always assumed it was because the heavier bow was faster.  Out further it doesn't matter between the two.  If I held the heavy bow the same up close as with the lighter bow the group would be about two inches higher, but still centered.  There must be enough overlap with this spine in the old XX75's.

I have never paper tuned, but all arrows impact targets at the same angle, and watching them in flight shows no fishtailing or anything.  I know it is odd, but it has just been my experience with my old equipment.

Whump sez; I would be surprised if you needed anything stiffer than a 2018. I agree with stringdancer and Hawgslayer about the 2016, if you stick with a lighter point. If you are planning on a 190gn point you might think about the 2018. However---I would not purchase the bare shafts and immediately start cutting them off----you can have a dozen cut off too short that will show stiff.       Hunt safe.
