I think I have learned something when I was shooting today. I’m a LH shooter that is left eye dominant…. But!!!
I have had the problem of shooting 6” right. At 15 yards since I started shooting 2 weeks ago. I have been thinking very hard of what was going on. I am a good skeet shooter. With a 410 I can shoot 98 out of a set of 100 clays on the range consistently. I think shooting a bow is a lot the same.
So back to the problem and I think the solution. As I said I know I’m Left eye dominate. When I get ready to shoot I try to work on my form by squaring my shoulder perpendicular to the target. Rotate my head towards the target. This is what I think the problem begins, as I said before I am left eye dominant, but also my right eye is not to far off from being as strong as my left. When I turn my head towards the target I cannot get my eyes parallel to the target and my right eye has more of a clear view of the target. There for it wants to take over as the dominate eye. Now closing the right eye is not an option because you lose depth perception so I started to squint my right eye to keep it from taking over the left and suddenly the arrows start landing vertically to the center of the target.
I have read a lot of post of people shooting to the right if you are right handed and to the left if you are left handed.
So I say try squinting you non-dominant eye, just enough to allow your dominant to stay dominant.
Let me know if this helps anyone.
