Secrets for clean release in lower poundages?

I shot my friends 40# Bear Grizzly at a league we attend recently.   I had been using my 50# Great Plains until I hurt my shoulder.   My question is about the release with these lighter bows compared to heavier draw weights.   I noticed as the shoot went on, my release seemed to get sloppier.   I couldn't get off the string smoothly.   As I expect to shoot these lighter bows for a while, I want to know of any suggestions that might help me release cleanly  with them.   Thanks for ANY advice!

I get used to using a deep hook and a thick glove for my heavier poundage bows.  I find that I get a better release with the lower poundage bows if I hold the string on the pads in front of the last finger joint, and use a thinner glove with a slick surface such as calf's hair or something.  Other than that, just make sure you maintain good back tension throughout the release.

If ya type in Rick Welch in the You Tube search the second video down shows his release. I dont know how many pounds he's shooting but he sure makes it look easy. I've been trying to copy his release, without as much  success of course.

Don't think about releasing. Think about where your hand should be after follow through.

So at the moment you want to release, simply picture your hand at the follow-through position.

Back tension is the key to a clean release for me.

I think what Todd suggested is a good one. I could see the possibility that when you went to a lighter bow you might find easier to just muscle the draw back and neglect the BT because it is so easy to muscle. What I do is imagine I'm pulling with the back of my elbow and between my hook and the elbow I try to keep everything relaxed.-Steve
