Popup Wet !
« on: November 15, 2007, 10:09:00 AM »
I hunted a tent blind my dad setup during a recent hunt in the rain {this was a light rain}.I know this was a low end tent but it leaked so much i had to stay dead center in it to stay dry.
So my question is does any have a tent blind that will stay dry in a rain.

Double Bulls stay pretty dry and even the cheap ones stay dry in a good rain if ya treat them with spray waterproofing once or twice a season. Shawn

I stayed dry in my Ameristep Penthouse. I don't use it much for deer though. They don't like blinds much, even if you brush them in real nice. Turkeys don't pay any attention to it.   ;)

I have had Ameristep and Double Bull and as a rule if you do not stay dry enough in a blind then it is too wet to bowhunt.

I hunted last week from a double bull during a full day of rain, sleet, hail, wind, and snow...and stayed dry.  I even stayed warm with the occasional lighting of a can of sterno.

BUT, popups are problems in that deer are very wary of something new in their territory even when covered with brush (I do not care what the DB folks say about that).  I observed long stares from the deer at 50-100 yards and they failed to come closer. I hear they work well in wide open country, but I will avoid them in forested terrain (that is, if the weather is half way decent).

I have two Eastmans and one off brand, the off brand and the first Eastman have been in the woods two years straight, and still turns the rain.

I stayed dry in my double bull. I have had about an 80% success rate of deer not getting scared from my blind>

Thanks for the response guys. One other question.Does size matter for deer? If you use the smaller size blind, would it be better?
