tournament arrows

Hey guys, Trying to decide between the Gold Tip Ultralight or the GT Ultralight Pro arrows. My question is does it make a difference when shooting off the shelf in the accuracy/consistency of a .03 or a .01 straightness of the arrow? Would you recommend spending more money to shoot the straighter arrow for 3d competition with a recurve? Thank you for your responses. Jason

I would seriously doubt that you would see any difference in the arrows performance. Unless, of course you shoot a whole lot better than I do (which wouldn't take a whole lot).

Are you gonna make ATAR the weekend after the 4th of July ???

Hey Don, Thanks for the reply and thank you for the congrats on the bear! I had a great time with my uncle, cousin, and friends!!! Not sure yet, but Dave and I may be visiting Rick in Arkansas that weekend. I really want to go to ATAR, but we will have to see. Definitely going to the worlds in TN. Reallistically you won't be able to tell the difference between .003 and .001. I'd worry about getting arrows that are matched as closely in spine as possible before straightness.

I'd get the .003 shafts when you cut them to length take a little length off the back than cut them to what you need. Generally the ends will be off the most so by cutting off both ends you'll end up with a straighter shaft.

I have been shooting Victory V3 600's for the last year. They are billing as +/- .003 straightness. Last year I took the arrows I was shooting to a local shop that had one of the old arrow straightners. Using the dial indicator on it I found my arrows were +/-.002 or less for a dozen. As was stated before I don't think someone shooting without a sight could tell the difference.
