With 3 under, you'll get less finger pinch..
I can shoot both split and 3under with no problems. The only difference, with split, I anchor with the middle finger to the corner of my mouth.
3 under I anchor with my index finger...

I analyzed it in my mind when I was starting, I wanted to find the most reliably accurate way to shoot. I could see no realistic advantage in shooting split finger, I could however see a major advantage to having the arrow aligned closer to my eye whether I shot instinctive or not. It just made sense...I figure its what Darwin would have wanted   :goldtooth:

........I just get a cleaner release every time with 3 under.
Bowhunting is "KILL and EAT" not "Catch and Release".....Semper Fi!

Droptine---???Pink ???
I don't really notice the arrow just concentrate on "the spot" to hit.

Anyway --Apache or Mediteranian?? Too many rules already!! It only matters if you can hit your target. I have shot 3 under since the early '80s but shot split for several years before. Have a Bighorn that G. Fred tillered for 3 under but have also shot and shoot bows not tillered for and notice no difference in accuracy. (same number of misses?!?!) I did notice nock point relocation change to a higher spot.
Other things being equal, it is the man who
shoots with his heart in his bow that hits the mark.

I have tried both, and have problems with both. 3 under caused bow noise and hand shock, witch drives me nuts  Split finger, is what I learned as a kid, causes callous to form on my index finger on the edge of my finger nail, witch hurt like the devil.  I figure split should be the easiest fix, but have not figured it out yet.  Have tried all types of gloves, and even tabs with leather flaps that protects the fingers from contacting the nock.  Any suggestions, on how to prevent getting the callous.

I've tried both, but for me three under just feels better and therefore works better. As several have said, neither is inherently better.  Go with what feels right to you and enables you to shoot well.

I tried three under but my arrows kept falling off the string.  Mercury nocks, ya see.  ;-)

I shoot both as well as two fingers under on a regular basis and get confused and frustrated.

Then I remember that confused and frustrated is my behavioural baseline, and just continue enjoying flinging arrows.

Relaxed intensity works the best for me in which case the draw hand technique I am using is inconsequential.

For me what my bow hand is doing is far more important.

Shot 3 under for years. Then got a bow that was tilled for split. Switched and shoot most of my bows that way now. It's all what you get used to. Felt really weird at first but it didn't take long before I knew exactly where the arrows would go and it felt normal again. The big benefit to split over 3 under for me is all bows are quieter shooting them that way. [/b]
Watching way too much of the Waterboy!

I switched to 3 Under. I found I could draw much heavier bows that way. Plus, I liked having the arrow so close to my eye. I felt I had better control.

However, I watched Hit em' like Howard Hill and have switched back. I feel that "I" am more accurate now that I have switched back to split.

Also, after 3 fingers got my strength up, I still can pull as heavy a bow as I like using split finger.

Tomorrow, I could go back to 3 Under. My suggestion is stick with one for awhile, then switch. See what happens.

I shoot Split with Longbow (IFAA\\Fita 3D rules), Split in Trad Recurve (Fita 3D Rules) and 3 under with an ILF Recurve for IFAA Field rounds in Bowhunter Div.

Both aiming methods work but I find 3 under the most accurate\\consistent, I tend to shoot Split finger with Split-vision aiming (unmarked 3D) and 3 under pure Gap (marked Field), I seem to be doing pretty well and enjoy both methods and have no issues swapping between Bows, aiming methods or finger styles.     :)

I recently switched to 3 under because I had a cut on index finger and the pinch was real irritating.  I seem more accurate with the 3 under and I really like it.
