Clicker Problem
« on: January 04, 2011, 10:04:00 AM »
Been useing a Cricket Clicker on and off for the last 4 years, my problem is I shoot 3 fingers under come to my anchor then use the feather to touch my nose then pull thru to make the clicker go off but my drawing arm feels like I`am against a wall and I have fight it complete my shot,I can go to blank bale shoot for a couple weeks even close my eyes and I`am now using a lighter bow,and everything works like it should, but then when I go back to shooting at 20 yds a I lock up, any help would be appreciated.

That sounds like the classic bow stacking up description.  The effort curve does a "hockey stick" and effort for additional pull length increases tremendously.  What is your draw length and what is the bow's AMO length?

My draw length 29" its not stacking, it is a smooth set of limbs, the bow is 64"amo, if I unhook clicker I can draw to 31" with ease but after a week of shooting without the clicker I`am back to snap shooting,so I guess nobody had this problem,

I use a clicker all the time now. I can't get away from taking it off then putting it back on. Are you useing your back to pull through your shot? I set mine up to hit my anchor, then a slight squeezing of my shoulder blades sets the clicker off and I shoot. This might help.

I "think" it's a simple case of anticipation.  My guess is that you have target panic; used the clicker to control it; and after a few sessions are beginning to anticipate the click.  Makes the darn bow feel like it's 100#'s.  Yep, been there.  :^)

The only advice I could give is to stay on the bale until you have complete confidence in your shot sequence, then, bridge from it in small increments.

I agree with Jim ... just target panic of another form. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. You are so close to full draw. If the back tension is good it really doesn't matter if it clicks. I can feel the tension on my clicker when close to going off and I know I'm there so no need to click all the time.

I have been there. get a copy of masters of the bare bow 3 it goes through the steps that will help you get over it. stay on the bale work on your form and shot sequence till it is so ground in. talk your self through your shot. draw, anchor, hold, hold pull, pull til bow just goes off.

Try a target about the size of a garbage lid at 20 yards, something you KNOW your gonna hit, that should take some anxiety out of the shot and let you shoot good arrows. Then after a couple weeks slowly start to shrink the target, if you feel the anxiety build go back to a bigger target or get closer. After you make some good shots you'll get more comfortable and things should start coming together.May take a couple months but be honest with your self and slowly build your confidence.
