Gotta watch out for those "Instructional Videos"

At least I do anyway. Here's why....a friend of mine picked up one for Christmas. Wanted me to watch it. I did and tried shooting as the expert suggested. Within a few hours my shooting went in the tank. Couldn't hit a bull in the butt with a bass fiddle. One arrow went bottom corner left. The next top corner right. I was spraying arrows like the proverbial garden hose. There was absolutely no consistency. For almost a month my shooting accuracy packed its bags and went south. I was getting really disgusted. I went back and reread the first book I ever bought regarding archery. Now, thankfully, I've almost gotten back to where I was.

I always take "how to's" with a grain of salt. Not everyone is proportioned the same, and just because a certain anchor point and form works for one person doesn't mean it will work for everyone.

I'm just starting out, but I plan on developing my own form from what works and what feels comfortable - with a little bit of guidance here and there from experienced shooters.

I will try to obtain knowledge anywhere I can but the bootom lines is what works for me. Although I just started shooting a longbow, Ive already found some good and some bad pointers.

Everytime I'm confronted with another end all, be all book or video I think to myself; who ran the archery school for the Indians? This usually gets me to laughing and I just go about doing what I found to work. I take things that may work and try them but never really alter my way I adapt them to fit. Archery is a process of adaption.

Well, my two cents worth,  the pro's or should I say, the guys that win the major shoots an world championships make these video's.  With my ability I will never win one of these, but my point is, if the videos made by them don't help??? Dont understand why?  They for the most part shoot perfect scores. They are just trying to help sorry shooters like myself shoot better.  No offense meant, just did not understand the post.

Most likely what Ric O'Shay meant was changing or copying some part of the pro's form ...
If you're going to be accurate with archery, everyone should stick with what's comfortable to them, we are all build different.
So build on what you have...
