figured out my left shooting problem
« on: January 31, 2011, 05:50:00 PM »
ive been shooting left alot. really no mater what. started to get use to it and know where to aim and hit almost where i want but still bugged me.

anyways i go out to shoot and couldnt find my new tab so i grabed my old glove and went out. found my tab out side and started shooting. then i got to thinking. so i put the glove and no more hitting left.  have to do more testing tomarrow but i think the tab changed the anchor im used to and making me shoot left.

now why im at it what are some good gloves? mines to thin and it hurts to shoot with it. thanks

Sawtooth,
I shoot bows that are only 1-3 pounds heavier than yours. I like a Damascus glove very much. They aren't super expensive so one might think they aren't as good, but they were recommended to me and I'll buy more.  They are also easy to find. It is a full palm, fingers, and back of the hand glove. I don't like the gloves with just the finger ends.

I have been using a big shot glove for several years now. The same one. These gloves are among the best I've used. They outlast anything else by far for me.

Are you left or right handed?

I shoot a tab mostly, but also have a Full Shot glove. It is just the more coverage version of the Big Shot that dnovo has, both by American Leathers.
If you are looking for more protection for your fingers from the string, they are worth looking at. There are some pieces of nylon web that cover your finger pads, they spread the pressure out real well and make for a slick release.

The Dura-glove from 3Rivers is very durable and seems to give a "slick" release.  I own a few after trying several tabs and other gloves.  IMHO, they offer a good combination of "feel", protection, and durability.

Shooting left bugged me for years too.

Turned out it was my left eye taking over dominance at the shot,(I'm right eye dominant) I found that if I closed my left eye I could not see the target as the riser blocked it from my right eye.

Might be worth checking.
Hunting was hazardous, but at least it guaranteed the freedom of the individual.

There is no doubt that the onset of farming saw the end of leasure for the majority of people, who were destined to toil in the fields.

I've shot with a Damascus glove since the early 90's. I've wore out a few since thin, but they are good.

Big shot, but get it in buffalo, they last longer and don't stretch.

dont think im going to a glove now.  i was shooting 3 under and with 1 nock point above the arrow. i added one below it and adjusted my anchor a little and added another reference point and my groups tightend right up. still have to shoot try it out at 20 and 30 yds, but at 13 yds its grouping tight and right where i want it now. weird how added the lower nock point and one more anchor point could help so much. hopefully it proves to work when i get a chance to fire at 20yds

I love the tabs, and only one layer. Cordovan leather is slick and durable. Could never get used to a glove, but then again I started with a tab many years ago.

The big shots don't work for me because the stalls are not deep enough. I finally settled on the Black Widow Super PDQ glove. It has the extra leather sewn onto the fingers.

Good luck.
