Canting Question????
« on: October 21, 2011, 09:24:00 PM »
Guys I shoot with a slight cant on my bow since I shoot "instinctive" but when it comes to canting a little more or even flat im not sure if I should cant just my bow or my whole head and body?? I notice when I just cant my bow by itself it causes me to short draw (I shoot a clicker so it clicks before im to full anchor) so to compensate I have to lean forword, to be honest it feels a little ocward. Whats the correct way?? Thanks in advance.

When I do it, I bend at the waist once it goes beyond a slight cant, I'm bad with angles so I won't go there.

i do cant my bow, I'm right handed, so I cant the bow to about 1, 2 o'clock, but every thing cant, every thing stay in line, so yes my head is in the same angle than the bow, bowhand of course and string hand!
In G Fred Asbel books, he as a few good picture sequences that show it realy well!

cantingbecomes a problem when it starts torquing the string.  bend your body and you head with the cant.  If you don't you will certainly torque the string!

Try this...at full draw with your bow hand open cant the bow with your string hand.  see how easy it is?  When you are canting for the shot your string hand has to follow the cant otherwise you will torque the string...which messes up your shooting.
