Poor eyesight and focusing.
« on: March 31, 2012, 03:15:00 PM »
To be blunt with it, I'm about as blind as a bat without my glasses. In the recent months I have noticed that whether I swing draw or draw from a stationary bow that the extra movement in my peripheral causes my focus to blur and pretty much go away. The only remedy i have found in the past few days is drawing then holding until my eyes refocus. It works well enough but I noticed that when I do that I tend to shoot anywhere from 2 inches to 5 inches high. I figure I can just shoot more and it will right itself. Any advice or have any of yall dealt with this?

Seriously, I think I'd see a eye doctor ASAP. Near-sighted is one thing, I'm a total blind melon without my contacts (like 20/300), but shifting focus/blurring peripheral sounds like something needs to be addressed.
We are all here because we are not all there.

I agree, something is not right if a movement in your peripheral causes a loss of focus. I have shot with bifocals for a good number of years and as long as I stay focused on the spot I want to hit, all works well. I have noticed that if I break concentration on my spot and glance at something, anything else, it is hard to regain full focus on my point of aim.

Going back and reading I made it sound a lot worse than it is. To clarify, when I bring up my bow and draw that's what screws me up. Not anything else in my environment
