arrow rest and plate
« on: June 16, 2012, 09:10:00 AM »
I have a longbow and have been using adhesive backed velcro for its rest and plate. My fletching chewed up the rest and some of the underlying finish of the bow. I expect some wear but mine seems extreme, and that the process of replacing this material is speeding up. The question I have is, is my arrow spinning before it leaves the rest? I have heard that it does not do so until it clears the bow. Does the "wing" of the fletching matter? Or would a different material remedy this problem? Is this common?

arrows42,  You will get better response in the pow wow for this question!  It has nothing to do with form.

That said, no the arrow does not spin before it is out of the bow, R/L wing does not matter.

I think you have a tuning problem like nock point or brace height or arrow spine.
