Bad form or Over Spined?
« on: September 20, 2012, 11:30:00 AM »
When I shoot in the evenings a lot of times my shots impact to the left of my target. If I try to make myself shoot to the right I hit to the right of my target??? But when I really concentrate and the shot really feels good I hit where I aim.  Now I have noticed I think I drop my bow arm (left arm) a little to fast. Could that be some of the reason I hit to the left? It's odd I will shoot 8 arrows and various distances from different places in the yard and one time they will all be on target and then the next time all the arrows may be all to the left. What do you fellows think?

It is really hard to tell without seeing you shoot.  In my experience, left, right hits are ALMOST always form related NOT spine related.  A person with good repeatable form will be able to shoot NEARLY any spine and hit very close to where they are aiming. The arrow may not fly well or may slap the bow but it will hit close. But if you are collapsing on the shot, flipping your string hand out, not getting good alignment, etc. you are far more likely to hit either left or right depending on the form errors.

My advice is to look to your form first.  That is the largest variable in archery by far!

Are you willing to give up what you are; to become what you could be?
