I am So Close!
« on: September 21, 2012, 11:00:00 AM »
To having a breakthrough.  I'm a relatively new trad shooter.  Same as most, I struggle with TP.  So here's where I'm at.  I get to full draw fine, aim fine, and shoot some respectable groups, when I can hold my anchor for a couple seconds.  When I don't hold my anchor an release prematurely, of course my groups open up. I feel like I am so close to conquering this I thought I would reach out and see if anyone has a technique or thought to share that could prove helpful.  There are times when I will catch myself before I release to hold the anchor.  I was thinking if I had some type of other "trigger" I could use to let the arrow slip from my fingers that would work but I can't come up with a good one.  I shoot split fingers and index my middle finger to the corner of my mouth.  THis is a natural fit for me and feels good and I'm not interested in changing my form.  I've tried pulling through and had some success but not consistent.  I've tried getting my finger to touch a molar tooth but that doesn't really work.

I hope this makes sense to some of you and you understand where I'm coming from.  Any help is much appreciated.  Thanks.

Prewar-  You could read the thread "target panic reality check" by Joel Turner, aka Clickerman.  Joel has a really good system for beating target panic, and he is very generous with his time and knowledge.
