3 Things that have helped recently
« on: November 08, 2012, 10:31:00 PM »
I have made 3 changes in the past couple weeks that have taken my shooting to a whole new level.  I figured I would share as it may help others.  First I read the article (printed several copies) Aiming the Arrow - by Jim Ploen in the thread below in this forum.  Read this several times and try to apply it.  I had slowly got away from this style of shooting, just focusing on the target and not looking at the arrow, and my accuracy was suffering.  This article got me back on track.

Second I bought a new American Leathers Big Shot glove.  I noticed about 1/3 of my shots were poor due to a bad release.  Part of this was me but a lot I started to realize was my glove.  Just could not get a clean release.  It was like the string was sticking to my glove.  Problem solved.  Huge difference.

Third improvement came from a new FF string.  I have only used Dacron non-FF strings.  I was getting due for a new one and decided to give FF a whirl.  Man what a difference in Speed.  Really flattened out my trajectory.  Makes your elevation guesswork easier.

Just thought I would throw these out there.  2 suggestions you can improve just by whipping out the debit card, not often you can buy your way to better shooting!  FWIW I shoot a HHA longbow.
