nocks close together on target but not the points
« on: December 12, 2012, 04:54:00 PM »
Sometimes when I am shooting it looks like i have a really good group,It looks like all the feathers are touching then when I get up to the target it is not as good as I thought it was.(Which is very disapointing) The nocks will be in a 3 to 5 inch radius and the entry point is 5 to 8 inchs. is this an indication of wrong form or wrong arrows?

If your target butt is made of consistent material and will hold the arrows straight, then, you have some tuning issues for sure.  As far as form issues causing problems... can't tell until the tuning issues are delt with.

Chief,  Here I am again   :D

I'm going to disagree with Jim on this one.  In your other post, you said you were shooting 60# and just starting out.  TOO MUCH.  I would guess that you are NOT getting any kind of consistent draw length, or release.  So your arrows are getting different "push" and therefore showing different flight characteristics.

Just guessing here but I stand by my earlier advice.  Get what you have shooting descent groups before you try tuning.  If at all possible, GET A LIGHTER BOW!!!!  30-40# will help you learn better than struggling with 60#

If you can, post a video here so we can reduce the guessing by seeing.  But I would put money on your described arrows in the target being the result of too much bow weight to come anywhere close to consistent form.

Didn't realize he'd posted something similar before.  Should have noticed the 8 posts.

Chief,

Getting a consistent, repeatable form down is the first step to hitting the mark.

Take moebow's advice. He knows his poop.  :^)

One of my hobbies is I like to delude myself into thinking I know a little about archery too, Jim   :goldtooth:    :goldtooth:
