I think that's a great idea, Britt. There's no doubt that having a 7 year-old granddaughter who is willing to count for you is the best, and certainly the most fun, way to learn to hold at anchor. For those of us who may not have a granddaughter handy whenever we want to practice holding, there are some neat metronome apps available for the iPhone. I use one called Tempo, which offers a choice of various clicking sounds that I can easily hear while holding the iPhone in my pocket. I practice at home using a five second hold, as you do, which is longer than I really want to hold, but I figure that if I practice under controlled conditions holding for five seconds, then maybe I'll hold for at least two when I'm being distracted by other shooters, etc. I've even considered using it during 3D shoots, but haven't yet reconciled myself to all the ribbing I would be sure to get. I'm sure comparisons would be made to Capt Hook's alligator that swallowed the clock in Peter Pan. Probably a better idea would be to bring a granddaughter along to count for me.
