Form Help
« on: April 23, 2013, 11:06:00 PM »
After some helpful advice from many of you guys on Tradgang, I stopped shooting my 60# pound bow and started shooting 45# bow(Yeah I am a beginner lol)....after reading and watching moebows and jimmybackmon's video's a couple times over I spent the winter months just working on my form.....Since spring has hit I would love to start doing some more advanced shooting.... My biggest concern is whether or not I have back tension. Thank you for watching and giving me your advice! I really doappreciate it....You guys have been very helpful.

Aaron,

Over all you are looking pretty good.  You appear to be using BT but at the very moment of release, watch your string elbow.  It reverses direction  (just a little).  This is a collapse and indicates a last moment loss of BT.  I think you should slow down the release and concentrate on "pulling through" more to stop that "reversal."

I'd also like to see you keep your head up more rather than so far over and forward.

Really, though, good progress.

Are you willing to give up what you are; to become what you could be?

Thanks Moebow...I was suprised myself at how fast I shoot and how far my head is over.....I guess I have watched Howard Hill videos to much.

Chief looking good as Moe pointed out slow down the shoot process some. Your head position looks to be due to your angle of the bow which is fine. if you straighten that bow up vertical your head position should follow due to string angle. Its always nice to learn different shot positions for bowhunting conditions.

Yeah...and I would like to add...along with your head back..I think you are cheating yourself out of a half inch of draw length by not 'digging into' an anchor just a bit further back....that would get your elbow back a bit.

On another note,...even at the moment, your arrows look too short...you are drawing past your field points and with bheads you might have a problem.

Not bad over all though...your are definitely on the right track.
