Finger pressure effects
« on: May 01, 2014, 08:09:00 AM »
I have a callus on the lowest portion of my ring finger. I recently read that shooting 3 under if your ring finger exerts the greatest force the arrow will move lower as opposed to the index finger exerting the greatest force which tends to move the arrow higher. While this seems to be true in my limited experience can someone offer an explanation.

I've tried using Moebow's suggested finger load of 50% on the middle finger, 40% on the index finger and 10% on the ring finger. I believe he shoots split and I shoot 3 under, but it sure cleaned up my release a lot and I have no finger discomfort with either a tab or glove.

I have to make a conscious effort to "preload" my middle finger by hooking it deep on the string first and starting the draw with pretty much only middle and index fingers. I then add the ring finger during the remainder of the draw cycle. If I don't do this, my ring finger gets pinched under my middle finger and it's not long before I start feeling the effects.
