great group-wrong target
« on: June 30, 2014, 04:51:00 PM »
Hi guys, I have been working hard at getting better groups. Last night experienced two strange phenomena. Suddenly I started getting good groups, but 6" to the left. Secondly I started getting hit in the mouth. It felt like my fingers and I am not sure why the heck that would happen. I don't know if the two are related or not. Any advice or help would be appreciated.

If I start hitting left, (I'm right handed) I really start paying attention to see if I'm plucking the string on release. AND if my mouth is slightly open and slack, I will pop myself in the mouth with my fingers recovering from the pluck.  To get myself out of that, I start pulling through the release.

That's my $.02.

Good luck,

Right handed or left??  Are you laying your head over to the string?  More info please!!

Ok...details. Newcomer to trad shooting, was doing target with a sight and an under the chin anchor. I have changed to three fingers under, with my pointer finger beside my nostril and my eyebrow on the string. It is a pretty high anchor so I have been struggling with getting my elbow into the right position. I am doing gap shooting at this stage, and I have been shooting about 20m. I wear a glove, not a tab. I am using a 70" recurve and I have about a 33" draw. I'm 6'7". I am using a 34# bown that is about 44# at my draw. I was s truggling with wrist slap but now I keep my front arm bent more and it appears to have gone away. ANything else that would be helpful to know?
