Arne,
I'm a 40+ year bowhunter who used to shoot heavy bows, but left that at least a decade ago. I've become a real fan and user of your elliptical draw technique over the last several years, and will say I've become the best archer of my life....not to boast, as there will always be many who can outshoot me. Much of the improvement is from simply getting older, recognizing my limitations, and learning to overcome those that I can. Anyway, I was shooting 50-59# bows until last fall when I developed a heart problem, had open heart surgery this winter and worked my way back up from less than 40# to 50#+. I was using the elliptical draw and shooting better than I can ever remember! I've shot quite a few arrows almost every day for the last 30 years, and it's part of how I cope with life!
A few weeks ago, I was doing a small roofing project- and trying not to overdo it! All seemed fine, until the next day, I had a severe soreness under my shoulder blade on my drawing side. I chose to rest it and apply heat now and then. It's 3-4 weeks later and I finally tried drawing my lightest bow(39#)and it begins to hurt at about 25 inches! A little heavier bows hurt at shorter draws. It doesn't go away and I almost can't tough it out(the way I did everything as a young man!)
I am at a loss now. Can you offer any suggestions on where to go from here?
