A long time ago, I saw Ken Beck from black widow shooting bare shafts at great distances. Since then, I tune my arrows in this matter. I usually shoot and tune my arrows with the bow held vertical. Recently, I started shooting a Robertson Wolfer that has a natural cant to it. I found out that there are different spine requirements between vertical and canted bow in regards to the Wolfer. In order to do this, you must have a consistent anchor. Instead of my normal nose to feather anchor , I glued a half round button to my cavalier tab which I contact to my orbital cheek bone. After making some length adjustments, I could shoot the bare shaft 30 yards with no nock left or right. I then took the shaft , fletched it and mounted a Stos head. My arrows are almost full length but the broadhead flight is excellent.
For those who bare shaft tune, has the degree of cant affected spine requirements a great deal.
