Form issues discovered and fixed.
« on: August 27, 2014, 10:05:00 AM »
A big "Thank You!" to Moebow and Terry. I actually became a contributor after you both have unknowingly helped me greatly with my form. As soon as a started "pulling" my shoulder blades together my arrows started grouping tighter than I though possible. I now have have a three step shooting process. Look, lockdown, release. The look is obviously the smallest part of whatever it is I want to hit, ignoring the arrow and bow. Lockdown is full draw with shoulder blades pulled together. My release improved with the shoulder blade tip due to more back tension. I still have an occasional miss, but that is more so my ADHD and probably a bird or something flew by and blew my concentration. Thanks Again! I may post a video for some critique soon.

LC,

Glad we were able to help some.  I'd suggest that it might be better to concentrate on the string side shoulder blade rather than both.  Set the bow side then work just the string side shoulder blade.

Doing both can upset the stability of the bow side and arm.  Everyone thinks about this differently and it may also feel different to different folks so whatever works for you.

I guess it is more the string side shoulder that I am pulling in. I will think about it while I am shooting tomorrow and see. Amazing to me the little things that come together so quickly and improve grouping. I have been able to keep arrows in the "kill zone" of my 3D deer target for years which has worked. Just in this last month with the advice from this forum you gave other people I have had 3 arrows to fix up (can't "robin hood" a 2219 shaft with the glue on knocks). Had to start shooting in smaller strings on the 3D target especially with the broadheads.  I thought that shooting from 25 yards and not getting too close would spread out the arrows more, but some days I shoot better at 25 yards than at 15 for some reason. Thanks Again!

It was my string shoulder I was pulling in. Still completely blown away by the difference this makes. I just feels like my entire upper body is locked before I release. Thanks again. Shot these at 25 yards. One flyer, but that is how it goes usually. Not sure why I was shooting the bag upside down.

As you continue to work on this, you will find that the number of fliers will reduce more and more.

That's nice shooting for just making the change.  Stick with it.
