Ranger B Tuning Vids: How does he get that arrow to shoot?
« on: October 30, 2014, 12:42:00 PM »
At the suggestion of several posters here on old threads, I went over to YouTube and started watching some of Jimmy B's vids.  He has a tuning vid in which he is getting some arrows ready for hunting season with a 50@28 Martin Hunter, which he says he draws to about 48lbs.  The arrows are CX 350s with a 200grn point.  WHAT!!!!!??????????  How in the world does that arrow shoot for him?  That's about two spine groups too stiff to shoot out of that weight bow at that draw length.  Doesn't make sense, but they fly right down the middle.  I guess his form is just that good (It is, I watched several vids)?  Any opinions?

I believe he likes his arrows long which would explain it. I shoot .400s out of a 47# bow with only 145 gr points but they are 30" long.

Maybe; I can't get 150s to shoot out of my 45lb recurve at 30" without putting a ridiculous amount of weight up front, like 350 grains.  In his other vid on tuning, he shoots the arrows with various point weights and it doesn't seem to make any difference, other than height on the target.  He isn't shooting a bow with a plunger on these, so I can't figure it.

The guy is a machine.  I don't think I've ever seen better form; as good, but not better.

And he's as nice in person as he is on his videos. Great guy. What you see is what you get.

Awesome, I knew he served in some capacity, but never saw that before.  I thought he was a chopper pilot for some reason.
