shooting problem

First I have been shooting for 55 + years and have done reasonably well over the years. I am not over bowed   46# @26" Schafer recurve.  Here's what I have been doing the last few years. I bring the bow arm up as I draw and pull the string 3/4 way to anchor point then I stop the draw and kinda get the site picture.  As I get the site picture I continue to draw quickly and seem to pull the arrow off the shelf so I am pulling away from my face. I do not hold at  anchor as my brain has been trained to  release. Was hesitant to post but figured someone might have a fix.   Would love to show a video but I haven't learned how to use my flip phone yet.

Bill,

I think you are mixing things together too much.  Draw the bow, set your anchor THEN aim and follow through.  Lift, draw, aim, shoot.  Aiming mid-sequence just interferes with a clean shot sequence IMO.

The most likely reason someone might pull the arrow off the rest would be if he clenched the muscles in his hand. If the muscles in the hand are relaxed, the force of the draw should actually pull the arrow tighter on the shelf.

Thanks gentleman, I use the first knuckle for my string  as I draw.  Have been trying to get finger tips to point towards my face, not happening.  Does anyone use the second  finger joint, and if so does it effect the release??   Thanks again.

Bill, Since you outshoot me in league 2 to one , I think you show draw with your arms, use one finger, anchor at your nose, hold for 45 sec. Then pull off your face at release. Hope this helps!
