Question about limb cores.  Some folks seem to like Bamboo/ others like Osage/ Elm ect..

How well does Yew do as far as performance compared to say, Boo and Osage???
Blessings,
Steve

As far as speed about the same as far as smoothness the bamboo takes the cake for me anyway. Shawn

I prefer bamboo for corewood, the limb venners can be whatever you want. The last longbow I had made was osage over bamboo. The osage makes turns a beautiful golden amber over time and is a durable classic bow wood.

Well my good Reverend, my vote here is with boo as well. Yew, in my experience through a chrono, is almost identical in weight to cast ratio as boo, but boo seems smoother, so why not use it and like Ron said you can use veneers to get any look you want = best of both worlds.

I've had the same question also. I've shot bamboo for a while and decided to try yew this time on my new bow. I can't tell any difference in smoothness. I prefer the yew.

There are many to like... so many that perform well AND look nice. Sassafras, cherry, walnut, elm, yew are lively, light, and beautiful. There's no need to cover them up.
